This is real life

No joke I am in Jerusalem. It all feels like some weird dream that I will just wake up from and end up in Provo with it snowing outside...not really my ideal situation. However, today made the experience seem more real.

This morning we trekked into the Old City for the first time. Now when I say trekked, it really isn't a long walk. The center is located so that when we walk out the bottom gate we are in East Jerusalem and then it is just a short, straight, easy walk to the Old City from there. We split off into groups with a faculty member or service missionary as our guides and went on our way. It was truly an adventure. My guide was Brother Bentley and we slightly got lost on the way to the church of the Holy Sepulcher so we got to experience the alleys of Jerusalem first hand. It was a fun time. We walked through several markets where the merchants always wanted us to buy stuff, tried the delicious bread from the street vendors and walked up an unhealthy amount of stairs to get to one of the best views of the city on top of a Catholic Hospice. Completely worth it though. After walking around and getting a brief orientation of the city, we were bused back in time for lunch and more orientation stuff.

Tomorrow is the first day of classes and let me tell you a little story. School is no joke here. Tonight we had 50 pages to read for Near Eastern Studies and 30 on top of all the scriptures and that is only 2 classes so far. It is gonna be crazy balancing time but it will be worth it. So much to learn, so little time.

Tonight we also had a games night and took a group pic that I am going to try to upload below.
Off to finish hw and go to bed.
Love you all!
